CTTN’s Mission

Central Texas Trails Network (CTTN) is a volunteer organization that exists to facilitate the establishment and promotion of trails throughout greater Bell County. CTTN, working with city, county, state and federal organizations, supports and promotes coordination among these groups to leverage resources and maximize progress.

We are working to bring easier access of our many outdoor activities and open spaces to people of all ages. Since 1999 we have worked cooperatively to develop this plan for a regional trails network linking the cities of Killeen, Copperas Cove, Temple, Belton, Nolanville, Salado and surrounding communities.

We envision a community where trails and greenways are accessible to all, without regard to age or ability.

These trails and greenways will link our neighborhoods to expand the current connection between nearby parks, schools, and businesses. These trails offer visitors daily opportunities to pursue various individual needs and interests that range from exercise routines to walking and enjoying nature.

Goals and Objectives of CTTN

To create on- and off-road links between residential areas, workplaces, schools, shopping, cultural and recreational sites.

To provide safe, non-motorized travel alternatives by linking together new and existing on-road routes and off-road trails to form a regional network.

To improve the quality of life and marketability of the area based on community desires.

To preserve, wherever possible, irreplaceable resources, historic areas, and green spaces.

Tasks of CTTN

 Accepting Public input

Informing community members

Gaining grass roots support

Forging area partnerships

Research funding opportunities

Exploring possible routes for the regional trails system
